Before your breath leaves your lips, remember,
words can be doves or bullets, choose wisely.
Soften each phrase, to kindness surrender
before your breath leaves your lips, remember.
You can always speak your truth with candour
yet not cause shrapnel sharp anxiety.
Before your breath leaves your lips, remember
words can be doves or bullets, choose wisely

This came from reading my Mslexia earlier today and my mind being intrigued by triolets which is a poem set out as follows

1. first line
2. second line
3. rhymes with first line
4. first line again
5. rhymes with first line
6. rhymes with second line
7. first line again
8. second line again

8 or 10 syllables per line

Discovering that my website tagline fitted perfectly as a line I took it as inspiration to attempt the above triolet of my own.

I remember doing sonnets and iambic pentameters and such-like at school and how I found the constraints challenging yet fun. I actually enjoyed having the framework to work from.
